Good. Ganguro is a very empowering thing in Japan.

"What is Ganguro? Ganguro is counter-culture trend that occurred in Japan from the mid-1990s to today in which girls make up their faces and necks to be very dark—highlighted by white makeup, dyed hair or wigs. Ganguro girls differ from “typical” Japanese women not only in outward physical appearance but also in their behavior and their attitudes towards their social roles. While the Japanese culture universally emphasizes groups over individuals (see my recent article on Amae for more information) ganguro girls focus on being unique and different. This is realized by following the ganguro fashion, engaging in group dances like the “ara-para,” as well as organizing their conversations, activities and life patterns around the fashion and its social implications, and maintaining their commitment to the style for as long as possible into their adulthood."
